This standard applies on the plastic grease VNII NP-279 intended to lubricate of friction units operating contacting with aggressive environments at the temperature rate from minus 50 to plus 50 Celsius degree and air at temperature from minus 50 to plus 150 Celsius degree.

The designation of the grease according to GOST 23258 is HSi 5/5 у-2.

1. Specifications

1.1 The VNII NP-279 grease must be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of this standard and technical regulation that were applied during manufacture of the grease samples have passed tests with positive results.

2. Acceptance rules

2.1 The VNII NP-279 grease is taken in batches. A batch is considered to be a quantity of grease weighting up to 150 kg, homogeneous on the quality indicators, accompanied by a quality document.

2.2 The volume of samples is determined according to GOST 2517.

2.3 If unsatisfactory test results are obtained for at least one indicator, repeated tests are performed on a newly selected sample take from the same sample.

The results of repeated tests are distributed to the entire batch.

2.4 An analysis of the grease for compliance with the requirements of this standard, with the exception of analysis for indicator 6 of the table is carried out before its packing.

When taking of the grease by the customer’s representative, the analysis of the grease prior to its packing is allowed only in agreement with the customer’s representative.

3. Test methods

3.1 Samples of the grease must be taken according to GOST 2517. For combined sample is taken 1,5 kg of grease. A part of the combined sample indented for testing in case of a disagreement on the grease quality must be stored for 2 years.

3.2 The appearance of the grease is determined on a glass plate according GOST 111-2001 size 50x70x2 mm. The grease is applied with a spatula using a non-corroding metal template.

A template thick of (2+/-0,05) mm (see the drawing) is applied to the glass plate, that between the template and the plate so that there are no gaps, and with a spatula fill internal edges of the template surface with grease, and then fill all holes above the template. By the spatula edge (the length of spatula edge must cover the width of a template) removes excess grease in accordance with height of template, to the applied layer of the grease cannot be damaged, then the template is removed from the glass plate and the grease viewed with naked eye in reflected light.

3.3 When determining the colloid stability, the ashless filter is wetted of a liquid base of the grease with viscosity at temperature plus 100 Celsius degree (24-27) * 10 m/sec (24-27 sSt).

3.4 The corrosion effects on metals is carried out on steel plates grades 45 according to GOST 1050.

3.5 It’s permissible to have large particles that are visible in the passing light.

4. Packing, labeling, storage and transportation

4.1 Packing, labeling, transportation and storage of the grease is carried out according to GOST 1510 with the following additions. The grease is packed in aluminum tubes with coating, or with inner coating of the butorphanol lacquer BF-2 with capacity of 30-200 cm, or in banks made of white tin with capacity up to 1 dm. Before packing, aluminum tubes are thoroughly blown with air. The gross and net weight isn’t indicated on the tubes. Tubes are packed in wooden and plywood boxes with tubes laid with sheets of thick paper.

The grease must be stored in the manufacturer’s container.

5. Manufacturer’s guarantee

5.1 The manufacture guarantees the conformity of the grease in accordance with the requirements of this standard if storage, application and transportation conditions are met.

5.2 The warranty period for storing of the grease in manufacturer’s container is 5 years from the day of manufacture.

6. Safety requirement

6.1 While operate with the grease must apply personal protective equipment according to the industry standards approved by the State Committee for labor and social Affairs of the USSR and VCSPS.

6.2 Persons operating with the grease must be washed hands before eating, smoking and after finishing work, it’s necessary wash hands with the warm water with soap.

6.3 The grease VNII NP-279 is a combustible product of IV group, since it contains a component with the flash point temperature of 285 Celsius degree and self-ignition temperature 380 Celsius degree.

6.4 In case of ignites, the following fire extinguishing means are applicable: carbon dioxide, the composition of compressed liquid bromine ethyl, the composition 3,5 and superheated stream.

6.5 The room where the work with the grease is carried out must be equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation.
